An extra special Easter wedding for us at Horwood House!

Beautiful Manor House - Horwood House Wedding at Easter - Anna and Tim

Our Easter weekend in 2016 was extra special. We photographed Anna and Tim’s beautiful wedding at Horwood House but when we say we, we mean Pete as I was lucky enough to be Anna’s bridesmaid!

Bridesmaid dress from Chi Chi London

Having been to a fair few weddings now it was very surreal and so nice to be fully involved with the wedding. I had expected it to feel a bit weird being on the other side of the camera but being with Anna and Tim and their families, it was brilliant. Being the only bridesmaid, I was lucky enough to choose my bridesmaid dress too. After trying on a few that didn’t suit me, I asked Anna if she would mind if I wore one similar to one I wore at my Dad’s wedding made by Chi Chi London which Anna was more than happy with.

Preparations at Horwood House

The day itself was fantastic. Unintentionally I became a high maintenance bridesmaid with both Sandra (the amazing hairdresser) and Sharon (Anna’s mum) working on my hair whilst Ellie (Anna’s brother’s girlfriend) curled Anna’s hair. Sorry Anna!

We all had such a giggle getting ready and before we knew it, it was time for us to go. Despite my worries I would fall over down the aisle or something awful, it all went very well! The ceremony was stunning and I spent the whole time grinning from ear to ear.

Evening entertainment from Down for the Count

The day flew by and Pete took some great photos despite the British weather being a bit damp and cold. The evening was fantastic with Anna’s brother’s band Down for the Count playing two sets and getting everyone on the dance floor! What a talented bunch they are and we are very excited to be at another wedding in June with them too 😀 Thank you so much to Anna and Tim for including us in your wonderful day! We’ve also asked them a few questions for the blog too!

What was your favourite moment of the wedding day?

It’s very hard to pick a favourite moment, we had a truly awesome day and to pick one bit above another would not be doing the day justice. Seeing each other dressed up and ready for the ceremony for the first time has to rank highly though.

Wedding dress from Bicester Bridal

Where did you find your wedding dress and groomsmen suits?

My dress was from Maddy at Bicester Bridal, Maddy and the girls were amazing. They had so much time for me and made sure everything was perfect at each visit. Aria who looked after us at the first fitting was brilliant, and so knowledgeable; she knew which would be “the one” but allowed us to try on every different style before it. The groomsmen suits were from Debenhams. We choose their service as it allowed each groomsman who lived around the country to get fitted and pick up their suits from their local store, but also ensure they were the same. They even catered for my grandad who didn’t land in the country until a week before the wedding, another set of friendly helpful people.

Why did you choose Horwood House?

Horwood House happened to be located equi-distance from where Tim and I grew up. It was situated in the countryside, looked stunning and was reasonably priced. We fell in love and didn’t look for any other venues!

If you could do it all again, would you change anything?

No. We had the best day. Having talked about this a lot we really can’t think of anything we’d do different. Aside from the weather of course but we couldn’t do anything about that. We could maybe have invited a few more of our friends in the evening as there was plenty of food, however we stuck within the numbers of our budget.

Science wedding

Did you have a wedding theme?

Both of us are so scientists we had a theme of science, however, we kept this very minimal. There were plans for many experiments and fun however these didn’t happen in the end!

What would your advice be for any couples planning their wedding day?

Enjoy the process of planning. We had a great year planning the wedding and made every decision together. Don’t get stressed. It will all turn out for the best. As long as you are surrounded by your friends and family that’s the important bit.
